Wow!

What a fantastic first two days and a fabulous class! We have been focusing on our ready to learn skills: relfective, resilient, risk-taking, resourcesful and relationships. The children have risen to all the challeneges exceptionally and shown excellent team work skills. You can see their marshmallow towers in the gallery, the winning tower was a full 43cm tall!

We rounded off today with our Africa party, we sampled food from the different regions of Africa and had lots of fun listening to African music. The South African oranges were a particular hit (see photos!).

I am really excited about the new term as are the children!

A few brief notes to add:

Homework will be set on a Wednesday and will outline tasks to be completed by the following Monday. I expect all children to complete their homework to the best of their ability, however; if there is a problem with the homework, please make a note in the contact book so I can address it. There will be a weekly list of spellings focusing on a specific spelling pattern and the children will be tested on these words in a variety of ways. Please also help your children to practice their times tables at home as they will be trying to set personal bests in their recall of them each week.

PE will take place on a Thursday morning and Friday afternoon. Ideally children will have their PE kits in at the beginning of the week and take them home at the end of the week. Please make sure that everything is named and that children have an outdoor pair of trainers and indoor shoes, such as plimsolls. We will also be swimming this term, this will be on a Friday afternoon, more information to follow.
